Introduction to Structural Biology
This workshop session will give an introduction to computational structural biology, illustrated with hands-on exercises using UCSF Chimera.
Topics to be covered:
- Quick review of protein structure
- Introduction to the Protein Data Bank (PDB)
- Structural information in UniProt
- Common structure file formats
- UCSF Chimera
- Exercise 1: Create protein structure scenes
- Exercise 2: Fetch structures from PDB, and common operations
- Exercise 3: Mutating a monomer
- Protein homology modeling
- Exercise 4: Docking with AutoDock using Chimera
